"I also have in mind that seemingly wealthy, but terribly impoverished class of all, who have accumulated dross, but know not how to use it, or get rid of it, and thus have forged their own golden or silver fetters.” —Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)

Sometimes A Little Inspiration...

...goes a long way.

I learned about the Get Rich Slowly (http://www.getrichslowly.org/) blog from Less is Enough (http://lessisenough.wordpress.com/).

Get Rich Slowly (GRS) is a personal finance site. I usually run far away from such sources of financial how-to because I'm tired of hearing how, if I just stop drinking (buying) a cup of Starbucks a day, I can retire a millionaire. First off, I rarely buy coffee at a retail establishment. David brews really good coffee at home. And, for the record, David delivers it to me every morning while I'm still in bed.  (Thanks, David!) This type of finacial advice doesn't resonate. But GRS is the exception.

If you want a little inspiration from a young'un who is debt- and mortgage-free, check out this video from GRS: http://www.getrichslowly.org/blog/2011/04/09/grs-video-contest-update/.

P. S. I'm proud that during the federal government shenanigans, not once did I experience a meltdown even though my job's salary is federally-funded. That's peace.
