During our eight days at The Home Place, David dug the post holes to build a temporary solar shower spot and place for the toilet. We decided to put it beside the future earthbag dome site so we can convert it to a permanent loo later. I put in the rock floor. The rocks look small in the photo, but they are quite substantial. We put up the blue tarps because deer gun season started and we thought the privacy would be the kinder way to treat the hunters. :-)
The View from the Loo is lovely.
We experimented with alternative methods for heating the shower water besides the solar shower bag and this worked really well - a 5 gallon water bottle spray painted black.

They sell black plastic 15 gallon water barrels at the Terlingua Water Company for $12.50.
Wow, Frann. That's good to know. We were headed over there to buy water the other day but got some water at a friend's house in Study Butte instead. We've got a bunch of these 5 gal water jugs lying around. They come in pretty handy. The handle broke on my favorite 15-galloner, so we'll go over the the TWC soon. Do you know when they're open?
Talk about a throne with a view of your kingdom!! Excellent!
Hi, We have a place about 3 miles NE of yours. I have seen your place from the road along the state park. If I see you there next time, I will stop by and say hello. We have just land now, but are in the process of building a small primitive cabin. We get out there about 4-5 times a year.

oh yeah, we call our place the "Vogl Ranch". Not much of a "ranch", but that is what we call it. :)
Really nice view and great stone work on the floor.
Looks like a nice place to "sit and think things over"!
Where do the books go?
Dang, beautiful stone floors, and such a beautiful view. You will want to live in your new loo with a view.
Hi Dani!
Hello, Vogl, from my neck of the woods. That's great and makes me feel good that someone else is a little deeper in the Solitario than I am. Please do stop by if you're ever in the neighborhood.
Desert Rose, thank you.
Hermit Jim, howdy! I agree with you. Books, hmmmm, I'll ask David to add a magazine rack. Ok?
Dizzy Dick, thank you. I like stone floors. We are lucky to have lots of beautiful flat rock around.
