Family in town - two of my three daughters and my grandson - so it has been a busy busy time around my house. I forgot how much energy a 2 year old has! We run from sun up to midnight and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm so glad they are visiting! We took a fast one-day trip out to the Home Place and did a short hike, gathered a few rocks, took a few photos. We've never had any trouble at our place and still haven't, but we noticed that our neighbor's storeroom doors looked like they were pried open. This neighbor's place is some distance from ours but still, I could see the gap between the double doors. David checked it out and said that his solar panels and batteries and other supplies were still intact, so I don't know if anything was taken. We don't know who owns the property so we can't contact them. I hate to see things like that happening as we always try to take care of each other. David put the doors back together on the storeroom and hopefully, this is the last of that kind of activity.

Good to see the update, my friend! Happy for you that the family came to visit...bet the little one was really facinated by the wide open spaces, huh?
You'll have to share some of the pictures when you get the chance...
Oh, and send me a bit of the energy from the young one, OK?
Glad to hear everything is going good for ya! :)
I have been told that out where we live, the homes that do not have year round tenants will occasionally have a "break in", from illegals coming north, they usually only take food and do as little damage as possible, staying overnight at most.
I have never seen this myself, but it makes sense. That might have been what happened to your neighbor.
Wretha
I am glad to hear that your family came to visit you.
I am however sadden to hear about what happen to your neighbors specially since one would think it would not happen in a secluded place as where you live.
Let me compliment you both for checking on your neighbors and for making sure that their storage room was secure.
As you know I still have my house in Houston but am in Del Rio taking care of my mother. My house was broken into in mid January but even though my neighbor had my phone number(even claimed to have called me...funny I never saw her number on my mother's caller ID) and anyone can contact the HOA who have my mother's mailing address and phone number but I was never contacted.
I arrived in March to find my house as well as my storage room in shambles. The worst part was that the original persons that broke in did not take much...it was the neighbors and their kids who basically took everything. When I mean everything, they even left me without toilet paper or coffee!!!
All it would have taken was a piece of plywood in my bedroom window and my kitchen door and I would have gladly reimbursed them for it as well as their labor, but alas it was not to be...
HermitJim, Thank you so much for stopping by! I want that energy, too. I have to say that I am completely wiped out from chasing the kid around.
Wretha, so good to hear from you! I like the way you're thinking about this. David & I wondered if someone broke into the place just to get food and water. We always leave a couple gallons of water and some non-perishable food in a visible but safe spot under the 5th wheel part of our trailer, just in case.
MsBelinda, I didn't realize you still have your place in Houston. How frustrating that your neighbors not only didn't help you with the simple act of boarding up the window, but they felt free to take your things. During Hurricane Rita, a neighbor's home was damaged when a tree limb broke a front window. With the help of the guy next door, we boarded up the broken window. It only took a few minutes and my gosh, it's just common courtesy. Others have helped us in similar ways. I hope you have someone who can look out for the place now. Please take care of yourself and I hope you keep in touch.
